Wide Awake

Wide Awake

by
A girl.
A coma.
A life she can't remember.

When Emma Walker wakes up in the hospital with no knowledge of how she got there, she learns that she's been in a coma for six months. Strangers show up and claim to be her parents, but she can't remember them. She can't remember anyone. Not her friends, not even her boyfriend. Even though she can't remember, everyone wants her to just pick up where she left off, but what she learns about the 'old her' makes her start to wish she'd never woken up. Her boyfriend breaks up with the new girl he's dating to be with her, her parents want her to start planning for college, her friends want their leader back, and her physical therapist with the hazel eyes keeps his distance to save his position at the hospital.

Will she ever feel like she recognizes the girl in the mirror?

Synopsis from Goodreads

My Review..

So there was once a girl in a coma

Then she woke up to something beautiful who made her start to think about things since she did not have a rat ass clue who she was or what happened to her.

"None of those things matter until it's the one you're meant to be with. Then all those kisses, all those things that happened with someone else, become insignificant and practically vanishes." loc 1168
Her process wasn't easy. There were a lot of unknowns of what happened and who she really is.

"...Sometimes, knowing when to let go is just as important as knowing when to hold tight." loc 1654

Then Emma starts to realize maybe she doesn't want  to be who she used to be maybe she can be someone new, someone better.

"...And when you do, when you figure everything out and decide with no regrets who you want to be, if you still want me,  I'll be right here waiting for you." loc 1686
Then more secrets kept coming out and making Emma question everyone while still trying to find herself.

But in the end it was love that counts. Love for one's self, love of one's family, and romantic love.

"But you saw through that, too. I never thought I'd find someone that I couldn't see myself without." loc 3554

I really liked Emma and Mason together even right from the start.  So many obstacles for both of them but a bit of fate brought them together but love is what kept them together.

So it was considered to be a stand alone book but here are the questions I am left with just in case there was ever to be book two.

1) What is the story with Adeline?
2) Did Mason and Adeline have history
3) Why Did Emma call Andy?
4) Does Emma get her memory back?
5) Does Mason's mom start to improve?
6) Does Mile get his shit together?
7) Who was Andy referring to when he got caught?

In the end it is this book was about HOPE, second chances, love and starting fresh.

I really did enjoy the book and so far everything that I have read from Shelly has been fantastic. :)

4 Thumbs Up!
