Losing Francesca Blog Tour - #Giveaway & #Reviews

Book details:

Losing Francesca by J.A. Huss
Publication date: July 1st 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:
Francesca Sabatini came to America to take in the sights, celebrate her high school graduation, and have fun wasting time before college starts in the fall.

That’s not what happens.

Fresh off the plane and barely on American soil more than a handful of minutes, Francesca’s face is recognized by TSA scanners to be a match for a child who was kidnapped twelve years ago.

Brody Mason remembers the day Fiona Sullivan went missing during a family vacation in Italy and it’s haunted him his whole life. So when Francesca shows up at the Sullivan farm down the road, he’s compelled to figure out if this girl really is his long lost friend.

But Francesca knows she’s not Fiona Sullivan. She knows exactly who she is. At least she thinks she knows – until Brody Mason relentlessly pursues her and she begins to have feelings for him. Maybe being Fiona isn’t so bad?

Reality becomes blurred, secrets are revealed, and life will never be the same when the final questions are answered: Is she Francesca or Fiona? And where does she really belong?

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.

RF's Review...

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book when I was a few chapters in. It was a little slow to start.  I thought that story was going to be cut, dry, and slightly predicatable but I was wrong.  Oh, how love changes everything!

Francesca is apprehended as she steps off the plane in America because TSA scans her face and she comes up as the missing daughter of an American family.  She is forced to go like with this family, the Sullivan's for 7 weeks until she turns 18.

While living with her "family," Fiona doesn't put in much of an effort to get to know people.  I like how all the family members where really nice to her most of the time, giving her the space she needed but then they also got mad at her when she only spoke Italian!  I really like the character Sean, Francesca's older brother.  He gives her tough love and makes her do stuff she doesn't want to do, forcing her to get involved.  The whole family is so sweet how can you not root for the Sullivan's?  Sometimes it can be a tad confusing keeping them all straight!

Then enters Brody, the neighbour hood bad boy and Francesca's childhood friend.  Brody was devestated when Francesca went missing and spend the whole summer looking for her.  He has never stopped looking for her and loving her.  Now that she is back he has to prove to her that they are right for each other and she is who everyone is telling her she is.  I like the character of Brody.  He helps her deal with this new situation and isn't afraid to get in a little bit of trouble.  He is exactly what Francesca needs.  He is willing to help her in anyway possible.  It doesn't take Francesca long to figure out that they are good together.  Who doesn't love a boy on a motor bike?

This book takes quite a few twists near then end, making it a lot more excited than it apprears to be at the beginning.  It takes what seems to be a fairly staightforward story and makes it so much more.   The author does a good job of character development and reeling you into the story.  You really don't know who Francesca really is until the end of the book.  I found myself swaying back and forth between thinking she should stay with the Sullivan's and wanted her to be returnted to her original family! Read this book, you won't be sorry!

My (Lauren's)  Review...

So again this book had loads of potential but felt like some areas for forced but not enough to deter me as I was waiting to find out the whole way through. Is she or isn't she?

Great concept and Brody and his undying love is great.

For Francesca she is caught in a lie that she didn't even know that she was a part of.

For Brody and the Sullivan's they knew the truth the minute they met her but 12 years and being fed lies can screw with a person especially when they are only still a teenager.

Loved the unconditional love of the Sullivan's, especially Sean as well as Brody. (*sigh* what a sweetheart)

Sweet and intriguing concept with a good balance of love, family and mystery.

3.5 Intriguing Thumbs Up!
