Unbreak Me - #Review

Unbreak Me

by
“If you’re broken, I’ll fix you…”

I’m only twenty-one and already damaged goods. A slut. A failure. A disappointment to my picture-perfect family as long as I can remember. I called off my wedding to William Bailey, the only man who thought I was worth fixing. A year later, he’s marrying my sister. Unless I ask him not to…

“If you shatter, I’ll find you…”

But now there’s Asher Logan, a broken man who sees the fractures in my fa├žade and doesn’t want to fix me at all. Asher wants me to stop hiding, to stop pretending. Asher wants to break down my walls. But that means letting him see my ugly secrets and forgiving him for his.

With my past weighing down on me, do I want the man who holds me together or the man who gives me permission to break?

My Review...

I was drawn in from the very beginning with Maggie being a bridesmaid to her ex-fiance'es wedding to her sister.

We quickly find out that Maggie is a suitcase full of emotional baggage leaving her very very broken. One of the ways she deals with this baggage is with sex which causes her little town to assume she is a slut.

With this baggage comes loads of secrets that are slowly killing her.
"But Maggie, your aura does seem terribly dark. You should come to my office sometime this week and we can do a cleansing." "My aura can't help it, Gran. It feels fat in anything but black."
While she is trying to figure out if she is still in love with William she can't move forward with all her dark secrets.  As she is wading her way through her darkness she meets Asher who brings out a side in Maggie that she has never seen. With this she wants to let Asher in and starts to trust in love again.
Asher who happens to be an ex rocker also has is own secrets and doesn't want to change Maggie but love her for who she is darkness and all.
"Come back and break me, don't let this go unspoken. I'm numb when I'm whole and you left me unbroken."
Asher and Maggie are drawn together and give a bit of peace to one another while driving each other a bit crazy.  She tries to use sex to difuse the feelings but Asher wants more than sex and refuses to give in until she agrees that it can be more
"Infinite Gray was not a boy band." "Were there any girls in the band?" "No." "That makes you a boy band." "It made us an all-male rock group." I bite back my smile. He's so cute when he's irritated. "Right, like 'N Sync'" He winces. "Not like 'N Sync. Jesus, watch where you hurl those things. Words hurt, Maggie."

When the truth comes out you heart starts to break for what Maggie had to go through. She first gets choices taken from her which is bad enough then she doesn't get the support and love from her family and stead she gets hurtful words that she starts to believe which leads her to make wrong choice after wrong choice.

"So many secrets." He sighs heavily. "Love isn't a bartering tool. I just wanted to tell you. I don't expect anything in return. Nothing at all."

While she is sifting through the shit of her life she is torn between what if (William) and what is now (Asher).

Maggie realizes right away who is best for her and what she truly needs to move forward.
"You give your body freely. That may be true. And you may do your damnedest to keep that heart hidden from the rest of the world. But it's not cold. You've got a great big heart, Maggie. So big that it peeks out from that place where you try to hide it."

"Don't be afraid to break, Maggie. Stop holding on to the ugliness just to stay whole."
For Maggie her demons are heartbreaking and hold on strong but with Asher she starts to become whole again.
"I don't trust anyone but you Asher, but trusting you scares me more than you can understand. I'm fighting it every day."
The secret only harvests the hurt next to our hearts, blocking the sunlight from the spot where happiness is supposed to grow.

"I love you." I whisper to this sleeping man. "Thank you for finding me."

This book has so many heartbreaking elements but I love stories where the broken becomes whole and this one definitely fit the bill.  The patience and love of Asher was able to break through to Maggie with a bit of passion and steam along the way.

Sorry for such a long review but there were so many good quotes and elements I had to share.

4.5 Unbreaking thumbs up!
