Spin (Songs of Corruption #1)

by
***You do NOT need to read Songs of Submission to read Spin***

Mafia capo, Antonio Spinelli blew through my orderly life like a cyclone.

Gorgeous and passionate, with a breathtaking brutality, he put me under his spell the moment he touched me, drawing me into his underworld of risk, violence and betrayal.

And I found, just as this sophisticated savage didn’t trust me, I didn’t trust myself. Something happened to me. Some alchemy from the heat between us.

I discovered I was a savage, too.

My Review...

You can't go wrong when you have the combination of C.D. Reiss, Mobster and a Drazen.  This book is a sort of spin off from the Songs of Submission but you DO NOT have to read that series before hand but it is a great series so I would say go for it anyways.

Theresa Drazen is one of Jonathon's many sisters who has had her heart broken for the world to see.  She is stuck feeling her sexual prowess is mundane as is her accounting job.  Theresa is from the clean cut variety and likes things in order but her life quickly spins out of order the minute she meets eyes with Antonio 'Spin' Spinelli.

Spin is part of a world that he wants to keep private so that means no one from the outside gets in until he sees Theresa Drazen.

Theresa tries to keep her 'good girl' ways but the chemistry can't be denied between these two.  Once they have a flavor of each other they can't go back even though the mafia world and the political clean cut world should not mix.

Theresa gets too involved in 'Spin's' world, that all he can do is bring her more into it, but it is not like he could have stayed away from her anyways.

In this book we have the bad ass 'mafia' world, sexual chemistry through the roof, family dramas and of course love.

I love the way C.D. Reiss writes and sucks you into her world.  All the song series are fantastic and I can't wait for May and book 2 in this series as well as the Kick Songs of Perdition (Fiona Drazen's series)

SWEET RUIN by Nazarea Andrews

March 13, 2014
University of Branton, #3

BOOK SUMMARY:
It’s good to be on top… Asher Knox has it all. Girls, wealth, a career most would kill for. He’s just landed the biggest job of his career. And he’s miserable.

She’s fighting her way from the bottom… Megan Beauchamp has no illusions about why she was chosen to be Asher’s PA. She’s pretty, and down to earth, and everything the Hollywood star always falls for. Too bad Megan is just paying her dues and has no interest in anything but advancing at her PR firm.

He’ll throw it all away…Luca James knows what he wants. And he’s waited a long time for the window to open—when it does, he’ll walk away from the career he’s built for a chance at something real.

When Megan’s boss threatens to fire her, Luca and Asher convince her to leave town with them. Between bad hotels and pit stop confessionals, the three are drawn closer together. And the lines blur even more in Branton, where Megan is forced to look at everything she left behind. But when the boys want more, Megan will be forced to choose between the men she loves and the life she thought she wanted. And in a town like Branton, the secrets she keeps won’t be hidden for long.

My Review...

I quite like this series, so when I found out there was a third book in the series plus a ménage I couldn't wait to read it.

However, once I started to read this one I quickly found that I didn't love this one as much as the first two. I did like the characters but I felt the progression of the triad and the feelings too quick.

First there is girl A (Megan) who works for straight Boy B (Asher) but she has rules against business and pleasure. Girl A is also friends with Boy C (Luca) who happens to like threesomes which is not her thing then all of a sudden boy B meets Boy C then 'BAM' there are curiosities and feelings and then have more of a bond then they do with the original reason why they met which is  Girl A (Megan).  After this they then have to convince Girl A to join them.

It did have the angst of Branton with Nik's bitchiness.

But I didn't truly feel Megan's hang ups with her sister.  All of a sudden Megan had a big issue out of no where and I felt like this story line of why she is so reluctant to change and being on her own could have been so much more.

Having said all that I did like the potential of this story and it had many steamy NA moments. I liked this story I just wished for a bit more.

Even though I didn't love this book as much as the others. I still adore this series and it was a great jump into the NA menage foray.  Bold move Nazarea.  I love Authors who take risks. :)

The Summary

Brianna is lost for the fourth time in her life. Each time was unexpected, and each changed the course of her future. The first life-altering event occurred when her mother died, and she moved to Minnesota to live with her father.
The second was when she was kidnapped at the age of seventeen and forced to be a slave. She would never forget those ten months. Brianna thought her life was over.
Everything changed again the day Stephan steamrolled into her life and brought her home to live with him. She had no idea what to expect—what life with her new Master would hold. That first month with Stephan was, in some ways, more confusing than the prior ten. As a slave, she’d known her place. With Stephan everything was new and different. He’d given her freedom and so much more.
Five months after Stephan rescued her, Brianna once again finds her life flipped upside down.
In this fourth, and final, installment of Finding Anna, Brianna must unearth strength she never knew she possessed. Stephan can no longer protect her from the outside world. She must learn to trust herself, embrace who she is, and discover who she wants to be. Only by facing her demons can Brianna find true happiness and peace.

 About the Author
Sherri spent most of her childhood detesting English class. It was one of her least favorite subjects because she never seemed to fit into the standard mold. She wasn't good at spelling or following grammar rules, and outlines made her head spin. For that reason, Sherri never imagined becoming an author.
At the age of thirty, all that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternate ending and give the characters their happily ever after. By the time the story finished, it was one of the top ten read stories on the site, and her readers were encouraging her to write more.
Seven years later, Sherri is the author of seven full-length novels and one short story. Writing has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create.

My Review...

Finally we get to find out what happens with Brianna and Stephan.  So, much has happened to these two but what matters most is the love they have for each other but is it enough.

To protect Stephan, Brianna has to leave him in order to save him.  But leaving him isn't so easy.  After Brianna's rescue she was barely surviving.  The only thing helping her move forward was Stephan and her love for Stephan.  Now that she is away from Stephan for the first time she has to learn how to survive on her own.

With the help of Cal and Jade, Brianna slowly moves forward and learns to live on her own.  The one thing that keeps her going is knowing that in the end she will get Stephan back.

As Brianna is growing, Stephan is barely coping with the loss of Brianna and the stress of the investigation, but with the help of his friends and ex-submissive Sarah he gets through.  What he doesn't know is the effect of his seemingly harmless decisions are doing to a very fragile Brianna.

.

Watching Brianna's growth was beautiful and for her to find herself in all of her personal tragedy was inspiring.  This is a journey for both of them with good times and bad times but in the end it was all worth it.

I am a fan of the writing of Sherri Hayes and can't wait to read more from her .

End of the Innocence (Innocence #3)

by
He thought I owned him. He thought he loved me, that I was enough. But this animal, this sex god who could drive me crazy and steal my heart in the same breath, he would never fully be mine. It was impossible. No one ever owned a God…

One year. I have one year to find out more about this man I am marrying. More about his family. More about our sex, and all of the dirty, delicious places it will take me.

I thought I’d spend this year making a decision. I never thought the decision would be taken from me, snatched right from my naive little hands.

My Review...

Finally the conclusion to Brad and Julia.  If you have not read the first two please be cautious of this review as their will be spoilers for the first two books.

Brad's fail safe solution of protecting Julia is with an engagement.  At the end of book 2, I was thinking this engagement was out of love but I had a nagging feeling that it was only for her safety and I was concerned that Brad was going to go back to his man whore ways but Brad surprised me in this book.

Right from the beginning we get to realize that Brad is really all in with this relationship.  He truly loves Julia.  Throughout this book we get to feel and experience the depth of Brad's emotions and love towards Julia.

Julia loves Brad but she also wants some independence so she conforms to some notions but puts her foot down in others.  She is fierce when it comes to Brad even when it comes to his family, her family, or her friends.

As the wedding gets closer temptations and pasts rear their ugly head.  Julia's ex-fiance tries to make a dent into her plans but with his appearance it only solidifies her feelings for Brad.  As Brad is trying to turn a new leaf he gifts Julia the strip club causing them to crash head on to Brad's past and potential weakness.

As my heart started to get palpitations wondering what Brad was going to do with temptation and I wanted to bitch slap Alexis with her antics causing me so much grief then Brad surprises Alexis and me.

Things are going as smooth as can be then be in the world of Brad and Julia they still find time to explore sexually, while they prepare for their wedding, evade bitchy friends and trying families.

Just when we think we are going to get our HEA the rug gets pulled under our feet.  As Brad's world falls apart Julia fighting spirit comes to the forefront.  However, not to spoil to much but we do get our HEA in the end.

I really did enjoy this series.  It had so many different facets going on while a beautiful love story was blossoming.  I loved the growth and depth of Brad.  One of my weaknesses are man whores who succumb to love.  It may not be the norm relationship, but it works for Brad and Julia and in the end that is all that matters.  When the pivotal angst was happening in the book I did find that part a bit rushed which caused me to lose a bit of the dimension in that storyline but it didn't effect the whole series experience.

I am a big fan of Alessandra Torre and if you like Erotica with an edge and a little kink and drama then this is series worth the read.
