McFarland's Farm

McFarland's Farm: Hope, Book 1

AUDIBLE | GOODREADS

  WLK synopsis

Wealthy, attractive Lucas Reika treats life like a party, moving from bar to bar and man to man. Thumbing his nose at his restaurateur father's demand that he earn his keep, Lucas instead seduces a valued employee in the kitchen of their flagship restaurant, earning himself an ultimatum: lose access to his father's money or stay in the middle of nowhere with a man he has secretly lusted over from afar. Quiet, hard-working Jared McFarland loves his farm on the outskirts of Hope, Arizona, but he aches to have someone to come home to at the end of the day. Jared agrees to take in his longtime crush as a favor. But when Lucas invades his heart in addition to his space, Jared has to decide how much of himself he's willing to risk and figure out if he can offer Lucas enough to keep him after his father's punishment is over.

WLK Author Bio
Cardeno C - Logo
Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
Cardeno's Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, "You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day."

My Audio book of McFarland's Farm Review...

First, this was my first Audio review and I have mixed feelings about it.  I had already read this book so that may have hindered my experience knowing what to expect and already having an idea of what Jared and Lucas were like in my head.  So when I started listening it started to change for me.  I'm such a visual learner and being auditory is definitely my weak spot but I like a challenge and I like all of Cardeno C books.  So, I thought what a great personal challenge combing those two things.

I'm not sure about Audible books.  For the audible learner they would be awesome for me it was weird at times having some dude read the book out loud.  For me the audible version didn't hook me in as much as the ebook version but the story is still good.  However, when I read it I felt like the book was way to quick but with audible I felt like it was just the right length.

Jared is a hard working man who tried to do the right thing but it failed.  After his marriage ended he started to become more true to himself but kept a strong bond with his ex wife and her family.  The whole time he was married he was a bit smitten with his wife's little brother but at that time he wasn't being to true to himself.
Lucas really is acting like a spoiled rotten brat which causes his family to ship him off to the ex brother-in-law so hopefully Jared can teach him a thing or two about responsibility and living within your means and being comfortable with yourself.

Lucas is pissed that he was sent away especially to his biggest crush as a boy so instead of playing nice he plays the role of asshole instead of acknowledging his feelings.
Once the cat is out the bag then Lucas and Jared start to hit it off, then this is where the fun begins between these two.  Together they have great chemistry and can finally given into their hidden emotions to one another and find their HEA.

Once again this was a sweet mm loving romance from Cardeno. C.  So far everything that I have read or heard from Cardeno has been a success.  For me I didn't like the audible one as much but that is totally personal preference nothing to do with the actual book.
