Razor Wire

by

Two women. One terrible crime. Zero allies.

After being raped by a superior officer, MA3 Kim Lockhoff wants to leave the whole thing in the past. A cop herself, she knows all too well that it’s her word—and slutty reputation—against that of a respected Navy officer.

MA2 Reese Marion, a tough cop hiding her own trauma behind a hard-as-nails exterior, has no patience for pretty little princesses who use their cleavage to win favor with the guys. But when Reese is partnered with Kim, she slowly realizes that reputations can lie. Kim is whip-smart, ambitious—and scared. The man who attacked her won’t let anything damage his career, least of all Kim . . . or the baby she’s carrying as a result.

Isolated on Okinawa, thousands of miles away from home, the two women lean hard on each other. But when Kim confides in Reese, she unwittingly puts her new lover—and both of their careers—in the line of fire. Now her attacker just might have the leverage he needs to keep her quiet for good.

My Razor Wire Review ...

So I have read so many of this author's alter ego L.A. Witt that I thought why not give this one ago with Lauren Gallagher and also a foray into the FF genre for a change.

Reading this book you immediately feel their pain about being a female in a predominantly very male world.  Not only is just being a female an issue, but now add the extra pressure of being a lesbian which makes them walking targets from those ignorant fucks.  For these two woman there sad and terrible tragedies is also the bind that holds them together.

Kim can't win, at first she tried to be the closed off female but the males in the navy wouldn't let her off easy calling her a razor wire where no one enters.  Finally being at a different base she tries a different strategy where she is known for being the flirt but never takes it too far as she doesn't even like men.  However, some men think they have a right to a women especially if they act a certain way.  After one horrible night not only was her rights taken away but also she is now stuck with a permanent reminder of that night.  Having no one to turn to or trust makes this new situation even more disconcerting for her.

Reese is a hard nosed female trying to fit in by busting peoples balls and being quick to judge and opionate.  So when she sees flirty Kim she automatically assumes the worst of her.  After been forced to help Kim out, she gets a glimpse of someone she may have misread.  At first she hears Kim story and is quick to judge, which is ironic for her considering her past.  After regretfully realizing that she was too quick she starts to befriend Kim and allows her a bit of a safe haven.

Reese has to open up about her past to get Kim to really trust her.  For both opening up these wounds is hard but together they help heal each other and find love where you least expect it.  After finding the truth they have no one to turn to so when the shit hits the fan both of their futures and past are brought forward with uncertainty. This was a good story and got to the heart of the manner with loads of angst thrown in.

4 Softer than you thought thumbs up!
