My Ruin & Rule Review ...

It has been quite awhile since I read a Pepper Winters book and what a regret that is, because this woman can write. As with most of her books this one has a darker content but the set up was great and kept you captivated the whole time.

Arthur 'Kill' Killian is a tortured man. For the last eight years he has been ruined. Not only has he lost his soulmate but also his trust in anyone. Now he's faced with his past again and its killing him.

"I hate that you look like her," he muttered. "But I can't deny you feel fucking good."

She doesn't remember anything but the moment she sees his green eyes she feels connected to him. Kill may be a grade 'A' asshole but he could also be the key to her past.

Kill's tortured with his memories but there is no way that she could be alive. She may not know who she is, but she believes she could be Kill's long lost love. Kill trusts no one except Wallstreet. For this he's beyond loyal and committed to his act of vengeance.

With a dark twist of fate his past has become his present and he won't let her go a second time. Cleo and Kill have lived in hell and in an ocean of secrets and regrets. Both are keeping things from each other but only to protect one another.

There are so many variables in this dark tale. Between Wallstreet and Kill. Between the Daggers and the Corrupt. Between Cleo and Kill. Between Kill and his family. Within Pure Corruption itself. Behind Wallstreet's agenda. Behind all the truths and secrets. In the end we are left with a devastating cliffhanger where Cleo finally remembers everything leaving us more in the dark that there is so much more going on beneath this dark saga. January 26/16 can NOT come fast enough so we can find out more with Cleo and Kill.

This book is dark and brilliant. It's not your typical MC book but its still raw and gritty. Kill's tortured soul wins you over, while at the same time you are rooting for Cleo to find peace within her mind. You feel the draw and connection between these two from the very beginning even if they didn't know it yet. It kept me on my toes the whole time and there were still some moments of a potential HEA within this dark world. Loved it and can't wait for more but you know these two are going to have a rough journey as they are part pawns within this war that's brewing.
