GUNS:The Spencer BOOK (Rook and Ronin Spinoff) By JA Huss
Published March 31, 2014
Contemporary Romance, New Adult-ish, Suspense

Synopsis:
THIS IS NOT A STANDALONE BOOK - IT IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED THAT YOU READ ALL THE PREVIOUS NOVELS AND NOVELLAS BEFORE STARTING THIS BOOK
Spencer Shrike is a man with a plan. Get in. Get out. Move on. He loves Ron the Bomb, and her safety is the only thing on his mind these days. But life is a tricky bastard, and conning criminals for the better part of ten years brings its own set of problems. Sure, Rook lied her way out of a sticky situation, covering for crimes Ronin, Ford, and Spencer committed, and getting them all off scot-free in the process.

But not everyone is buying Rook’s story, and Spencer is desperate to figure out who’s in town setting them up for a fall.

Veronica the Bombshell Vaughn has put up with Spencer Shrike’s shit for years and where has it gotten her? A big fat nowhere. No ring, no house, no kids, and no promises. In fact, Spencer is worse than ever—completely distant and moody. She’s done sitting at home, pining over a man she can’t have.

But she’s not opposed to fighting for him.

Ron the Bomb fights hard and she fights dirty, so she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Spencer’s attention.

But now there’s another man in town with his eye on her. He’s got secrets too, but unlike Spencer, Bobby Mansi is more than willing to let Veronica in on them.

The entire Rook and Ronin series comes full circle. Every con, every lie, and every skeleton in the closet is back for one final shot at vengeance and the only way to set it right…  is to get out the guns.

My Review...

I adored the original Rook and Ronin Series and I LOVE the spin offs.  First we got to find out all about Ford and now we get to end with all things Spencer Shrike.

When I first met Spencer. I lurved him and his sarcastic wit! I knew he had passion and a huge heart but I didn't know the whole extent until this tale.  And what a heart it is.  We start thinking that maybe Spencer is a 'dick' the way he treats Ronnie but we find out why and boy it did nothing but make me love Spencer whole heartedly.

Guns wraps up the whole series and spin offs in one beautifully wrapped bow. There was so  much drama, intrigue, angst, loads of dirty talking Spencer, and love.

We don't just get Ronnie and Spencer we get so much more with the team and their counterparts.   The 'boys' had something good going on but in the end the bond they have is so much more than I think anyone of them could have imagined.  And Ford what a mastermind... how can you not love Ford.  I have to admit it is tough to pick a favorite out of the three.  Maybe I'll be just be neutral and love all of them more as the team then individually.

If you haven't read the series than I definitely recommend them.  I don't want to say to much as it will provide spoilers which will ruin the journey and the inner workings of Spencer.  Everyone's secrets come out and everything comes to a head. I loved the second epilogue which was pure genius.

I also hope we get to know Merc in the future. Hint Hint. J.A. Huss.

4.5 Spencer Loving Thumbs up!

BOMB: A Day in the Life of Spencer Shrike (Rook and Ronin Spinoff)

by
A NOVELLA OF ABOUT 80 PAGES

Spencer Shrike is a plotter. Known for his ingenious, albeit illegal, plans that keeps the Team running efficiently and out of jail, he carries this same love of order into his personal life. He’s kept his long-time main squeeze on the sidelines for years as he builds the Shrike Bikes empire.

Veronica Vaughn is an explosion ready to happen. Ronnie lives in the here and now. She lives for today. She knows what she wants, and she wants it now. And right now Ron the Bomb Vaughn wants Spencer shrike to leave her the hell alone. She’s done playing his game. She’s done waiting around. She’s moving forward with her own plots, plans, and dreams and she’s moving forward tonight. Ron the Bomb is finally—finally—gonna get some satisfaction.

Too bad Spencer Shrike is standing in her way.

My Review...

Oh Spencer, I have loved him from the beginning and we finally get to see what is behind our beloved Spencer.

Bomb is a little snippet into the day and life of Spencer. We finally get to see why he treats Ronnie the way he does.  We also get to see his piece in the team with Ford and Ronin.  Individually they are all amazing but as a team unstoppable.

What makes Spencer tick are Guns and his 'Bombshell'.  I have a feeling in Guns, Spencer is going to steal my heart. ;)
