Sketch by Laramie Briscoe Release Day Blitz ~ #giveaway #sneakpeak #bookreview #igotsketched

My name is Devin, but everybody calls me Sketch. I opened my own tattoo shop two years ago, and I’ve finally gotten to the point where I’m going to be able to give my wife everything she’s ever wanted. I’m going to be able to take time off and spend a day a week with her. In fact, tonight, I stopped and grabbed some wine, got her flowers, and those chocolates she likes.

What I wasn’t prepared for was to be met at the front door by her carrying her sh*t out.

She loves me, but she’s not in love with me anymore. What kind of bulls*it excuse is that? I’ve left her alone too often, I’ve been completely focused on one goal, and apparently she’s sick of waiting.

So here I stand. Half the man I was, p*ssed as f*ck, because while I was busy making a better life for us, she was under the impression I was leaving her lonely. I know one day she’ll see what I’ve been doing has been for us, and when that day comes… She can damn well come crawling back to me.

My Sketch Review . . .

After reading the synopsis I knew the book had tons of potential.  Here we have Sketch who's a successful tattoo artist but not successful in his marriage.  He thought he was but one day he came home to find his wife leaving for good.  Sketch and Nina have been high school sweethearts.  All he knows and loves is Nina.  All he works for is Nina.  So why did it fall apart?

"That's tight, man, it takes a lot for two people to admit their faults and then admit they want to work on things."

This story was done with alternate POV's which tell each side of the story.  Without that it would be very easy to hate Nina after she leaves Sketch.  With hearing her side you get to see both sides how their marriage started to fail.

" . . . Giving up is easy.  It's the making it work, that's the hard part."

Now six months later and Sketch is still faithful to his wife and determined to find out what went wrong between the two of them.  At first I was really not liking Nina but after awhile she started to grow on me as the two of them started to try and mend their relationship.

This separation has forced us to find ourselves.

I liked the realness of this story where almost anyone can relate to the dissolution of a relationship where assumptions and miscommunications take place.  Here we get to see how it all went down and then how it was able to rebuild once both took the time to truly see each others point of view.

"If we end up happy because of it, then the journey has been worth it."

I really did like the story and I could relate to it but in the end I still felt like I wanted more.  I wanted a visceral reaction where I was encaptured within the story instead of liking the story but not completely falling in love with the story.  Would I read more from this author? Yes.  Would I read more if this turned into a series? Yes.
